SMS Audio STREET By 50 Headphones Rock My World

April 16, 2012 in Accessories, Android, Entertainment, Entertainment, iPad, iPhone, Lifestyle, Lifestyle, Lifestyle, Main Blog, Music, Music, Music, Product, Slideshow

Music is one of the main reasons I purchased my iPod Touch in the first place, yet Apple’s headphones, while iconic, are severely lacking in quality. Enter STREET by 50 Headphones. These super stylish headphones are incredible, not only are they super comfortable but they also look great wearing around your neck, meaning you can embrace your inner hipster and walk the boulevard in fashion.

The Presentation:

I have to hand it to SMS Audio, their packaging is quite stunning. I could tell just by looking at the box, that they spared no expense for these headphones. Inside you’ll find the STREET by 50 Headphones of course, a convenient carrying bag, cleaning cloth, owners manual, and also as an added bonus, an airplane adapter which is great if you travel a lot.

The Design:

The STREET by 50 Headphones are a pair of over-the-ear headphones, they come in blue with black or black with blue and feature leather padded ear cups and head band. The headphones are gorgeous with a matte trim and elegant logo. The 3.5mm cable is decent in length, and is completely detachable from the headphones like other high end pairs. The cable also has mic/music controls, great for playing or pausing music, changing the track, or calling up Siri. The microphone is well positioned and will capture every word you speak.

Durability:

SMS Audio prides themselves on the durability of their headphones, the Street by 50 are no exception. SMS Audio uses a custom polymer plastic that is stronger and more flexible than alternative headphones. In fact, they are so confident on the durability that they dared me to try and break them, I passed them up on that offer; but 50 Cent himself didn’t, so check that out below. The only downside to this construction is the headphones do not fold up for travel, but SMS Audio claims that they purposely did this to create a more secure product.

Another plus of the STREET Headphones is the design of the ear cups. SMS Audio uses sound absorption gaskets, fancy for overlapping seams and lots of padding materials, which provide very minimal sound leakage; meaning no matter what you may be listening to,  I won’t judge, no sound will be heard by others. The Street headphones also include Passive Noise Cancellation, this means that instead of canceling outside noise by producing an opposite frequency SMS  Audio chose to keep your music pure, and engineered the acoustics and mechanical construction to produce 95% Total Harmonic Distortion sound, which means when your music is playing, that is all you’ll hear.

The Sound:

Okay, by now you are probably wondering, “when is he gonna get to how these sound?” Well reader the time is now; the STREET by 50 produce stunning sound. Like melted butter, your music will flow into your ears, warming your soul. On a serious note, the sound is astounding. Every note is crystal clear, each melody is literally music to my ears. The bass is freaking awesome; each WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP can pound your brain in to mush, if your so inclined. The volume range is great as well. I generally keep my volume slide just past the play/pause button in the music app, yet with the STREET Headphones  I can place it about half as far and still hear just as well.

The Overall:

So there you have it, my take on the SMS Audio STREET by 50 Headphones. In case you’ve decided to skim my article, and merely look at the pictures, let me break it down for you.

Good: Audio Quality, Comfort, Style, Packaging, Music Control

Bad: Not Collapsible, A Little Large

With a $249.00 price tag, they are a little on the pricey side, but still they are right along line with the other top of the line headphones. I definitely think they are worth it, 4.7 stars for sure. I mean I do wish they could collapse, but SMS Audio knows best, so I take comfort in the fact that my headphones will outlast my friend’s Beats.

TwinGo! App Review

March 10, 2012 in Entertainment, Gaming, iPhone

I have a new app review for you all; a game called TwinGo!

Chillingo has released a new app called TwinGo! This puzzle game involves two cute little spheres who do everything together. The title suggests they are twins, but they must be fraternal since I see little resemblance. The object of this game is to roll these guys around collecting the three stars and land them on their color coordinated launch pads. This puzzle game forces you to think five steps ahead, and lets you know when you found the best solution. But don’t worry if you mess up, there is a handy undo button to go back in time. Using walls is the only way to separate the spheres but be careful break away blocks can only support you for once before giving way adding an additional level of challenge to the game.

The Graphics:

The animations are nothing short of what you would expect from Chillingo. The cute little spheres have adorable expressions and grow agitated when you pause for two long or you roll of the edge. The graphics load fast from level to level and restarting the level is quite fast. Every thing moves in the background and foreground allowing you to get lost in the gorgeous pixels easily.

The Music:

Again Music is important to me, and this game does not disappoint. The music is tropical and fun; something that reminds me of  a old Mario game. Sound effects are minimal, which is fine for me, since I sometimes find them distracting in excess.

 Overall:

In the end, I love this game. It provides a great challenge on each level and gets more fun as time goes on. With 90 levels I will definitely spend a lot playing this game.

TwinGo! is $1.29 on iTunes and you can go check it out Here. I give it 4 stars for sure.

The Drop Out Drops My Jaw

March 3, 2012 in Entertainment, Gaming, iPhone, Slideshow, Uncategorized

The Drop Out Welcome Screen

I recently purchased a new game called The Drop Out, from the App Store; and let me tell you this game might just be the next big thing. I have only had the game for a few days, but so far I am impressed.

The Gameplay

While the concept of this game is not overly complex, it is surely intuitive. If you enjoy playing Angry Birds, then this one will become an instant favorite for you. The goal of each level is to save each Furrie by shooting a Boo at them to knock them off the screen. Simply pull back and release to send a Boo flying. As the game advances Evil Furries begin to appear, save one of them and you’ll loose points. Also, as you progress the Boos begin to develop special abilities to help you along your way. The physics of this game are astounding. As a physics student myself, I can tell you that they are spot on. Each Furrie falls realistically, often setting of a chain reaction.  So far there are 120 levels, but more are promised to follow.

The Graphics:

The graphics are defiantly what you would expect from a top notch game. The developers at Digital Poke Labs knew what they were doing, creating levels that are not only are crisp and clean but also aesthetically pleasing.  The Drop Out looks amazing on the retina screen. The menu layout is similar to the that of games such as Angry Birds and each menu screen is simple to navigate. The animations are well done as well. Scrolling on the level select is smooth and during game play, I noticed no lagging.

The Sounds:

For me, sound is one of the most important aspects of a game. Too little and I might as well be reading a book, too much and I just get annoyed. The Drop Out found the perfect balance. The music is tropical and fun and the sound effects are just adorable. You could probably imagine what these cute little Furries would sound like, and you would be pretty close.

Overall:

Well there you have it, The Drop Out in a nutshell. This game exhibits all the characteristics of a great game. The game play and graphics are superb. I definitely recommend this game if you love puzzle/ action games and I give it 4 stars. For $0.99 its worth checking out: Here
