iOS App Review: Sushi Mushi

November 26, 2012 in Gaming, Gaming, iPad, iPhone, Slideshow

Sushi Mushi is a puzzle game that is extremely fun, and suitable for everyone. The concept is simple. There are 30 little pieces of sushi with a specific shape and colour, and all the user has to do is to highlight the ones that are the same colour and/or the same shape to get points. The aim of the game is to get the most points by the end of a 3 round match against either your friends or the strangers you play against. As you win, you will level up. Levels are measured by “belts” (like karate and other martial arts). With all the extra little touches, such as daily fortunes, and achievements, this game is extremely fun to play with.

This game is multiplayer-based (like Words With Friends™ and DrawSomething™), so a wifi or cellular connection is required to play. The connection does not affect the gameplay at all, so don’t worry even if your internet connection is not up to par. You can login through either Facebook or email- Facebook may be the better choice, for you can play against your friends if they have the game too.

Overall, this game is great. It’s very colourful and the cuteness is unbearable. This fast-paced game is very easy to understand and very fun to play. Though it’s going to take sometime to level up to a high level, it’s very competitive and a very good game to consider when you’re bored. This game is compatible with iPhones, iPads, iPad Minis, and iPod touches. This is a must try game.

TwinGo! App Review

March 10, 2012 in Entertainment, Gaming, iPhone

I have a new app review for you all; a game called TwinGo!

Chillingo has released a new app called TwinGo! This puzzle game involves two cute little spheres who do everything together. The title suggests they are twins, but they must be fraternal since I see little resemblance. The object of this game is to roll these guys around collecting the three stars and land them on their color coordinated launch pads. This puzzle game forces you to think five steps ahead, and lets you know when you found the best solution. But don’t worry if you mess up, there is a handy undo button to go back in time. Using walls is the only way to separate the spheres but be careful break away blocks can only support you for once before giving way adding an additional level of challenge to the game.

The Graphics:

The animations are nothing short of what you would expect from Chillingo. The cute little spheres have adorable expressions and grow agitated when you pause for two long or you roll of the edge. The graphics load fast from level to level and restarting the level is quite fast. Every thing moves in the background and foreground allowing you to get lost in the gorgeous pixels easily.

The Music:

Again Music is important to me, and this game does not disappoint. The music is tropical and fun; something that reminds me of  a old Mario game. Sound effects are minimal, which is fine for me, since I sometimes find them distracting in excess.

 Overall:

In the end, I love this game. It provides a great challenge on each level and gets more fun as time goes on. With 90 levels I will definitely spend a lot playing this game.

TwinGo! is $1.29 on iTunes and you can go check it out Here. I give it 4 stars for sure.

The Drop Out Drops My Jaw

March 3, 2012 in Entertainment, Gaming, iPhone, Slideshow, Uncategorized

The Drop Out Welcome Screen

I recently purchased a new game called The Drop Out, from the App Store; and let me tell you this game might just be the next big thing. I have only had the game for a few days, but so far I am impressed.

The Gameplay

While the concept of this game is not overly complex, it is surely intuitive. If you enjoy playing Angry Birds, then this one will become an instant favorite for you. The goal of each level is to save each Furrie by shooting a Boo at them to knock them off the screen. Simply pull back and release to send a Boo flying. As the game advances Evil Furries begin to appear, save one of them and you’ll loose points. Also, as you progress the Boos begin to develop special abilities to help you along your way. The physics of this game are astounding. As a physics student myself, I can tell you that they are spot on. Each Furrie falls realistically, often setting of a chain reaction.  So far there are 120 levels, but more are promised to follow.

The Graphics:

The graphics are defiantly what you would expect from a top notch game. The developers at Digital Poke Labs knew what they were doing, creating levels that are not only are crisp and clean but also aesthetically pleasing.  The Drop Out looks amazing on the retina screen. The menu layout is similar to the that of games such as Angry Birds and each menu screen is simple to navigate. The animations are well done as well. Scrolling on the level select is smooth and during game play, I noticed no lagging.

The Sounds:

For me, sound is one of the most important aspects of a game. Too little and I might as well be reading a book, too much and I just get annoyed. The Drop Out found the perfect balance. The music is tropical and fun and the sound effects are just adorable. You could probably imagine what these cute little Furries would sound like, and you would be pretty close.

Overall:

Well there you have it, The Drop Out in a nutshell. This game exhibits all the characteristics of a great game. The game play and graphics are superb. I definitely recommend this game if you love puzzle/ action games and I give it 4 stars. For $0.99 its worth checking out: Here

App Review: Real Racing 2 HD

October 19, 2011 in Entertainment, Gaming, Gaming, iPad, iPhone, Slideshow

Name: Real Racing 2 HD
Category: UGames
By: Firemint PTY Ltd
Price: $3.99 USD
Compatible devices: iPad with iOS 3.2 or later (iPhone version also available)
Plomonet rating: 9/10

Racing games have always been a classic whatever console you’re on. With the recent development in technology, accelerometers are more commonly found in devices around us. The idea of having the device held as if it was the steering wheel is now common in many racing games. Real Racing 2 HD is no exception – it is one of the newest games developed to exploit the high performance speed and graphics of the iPad 2.

When compared to the original iPad, the experience is completely different especially with this game. You can enjoy full 1080p quality on your iPad 2 anywhere, and it even supports playing on a TV screen using an AV adaptor. Not only this, when you connect to a TV the whole screen shows the screen as if you are sitting in a car, and the iPad screen will change to show some information such as speed, time, position, lap etc. instead of the actual gaming screen. The game itself too is obviously amazing, and therefore it is greatly recommended for users who enjoy HD games, or racing games.

The developers have closely worked with various car companies, and the games have closely replicated models of various cars. This definitely is a recommendation if you are looking for a racing game, and are willing to pay the small price of $3.99 (definitely worth the quality!). If you have been downloading free racing games you may have realised that most of them are either very bad, or you get no features unless you purchase the full version.

iOS App Review: WifiPad

WifiPad Game Pad

There are many games that were traditionally played with a joystick, or a gamepad that have been emulated on to the computer, such as Pokémon Fire Red, which was originally released for the Gameboy Advance. Whilst it is possible to play with only the keyboard, the experience may not be the same. WifiPad allows you to use your iPhone, iPod touch or even iPad as a wireless gamepad that connects over Wi-Fi to your computer.

WifiPad Server

The requirements for WifiPad to run is: the WifiPad app on the device from the App Store, and the WifiPad server for the computer from the WifiPad website. Both the computer and the device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

WifiPad Server Connect

Using the WifiPad Server, you can name your server (default is your computer username), and change the gamekey map to fit your game. It is also possible to create multiple gamepads, so that you can choose the gamepad for the game you are about to play.

WifiPad GamePad Selector

It is possible to find or create gamepads for any type of games on the computer. On the WifiPad website, there are many gamepads designed by other users for specific games or consoles (http://www.wifipad.com/getgamepads.php). Below is an example of a user playing halo with a WifiPad gamepad:

Although the idea of WifiPad is sound, there are some problems that have not been smoothed out yet since it is not yet a mature product. Some of the problems, as acknowledged on the WifiPad website are: the stability of the game play is limited by the strength of the Wi-Fi network, the gamepad might disconnect or have sporadically connection; not all games work well with the WifiPad; and the experience is not 100% the same as physical gamepads.

Users have commented that having an alternative connection (such as Bluetooth), and implementing tactile feedback when the keys are pressed might improve their WifiPad experience.

Overall, WifiPad is a viable free controller for computer games. However, do not expect a perfect experience as it is still in its early stage of development (Ver. 1.1), and WifiPad are aware of limitations in its gameplay. But, do try WifiPad and play old school games such as Donkey Kong with a gamepad instead of the keyboard.

[App Review] Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 12

Electronic Arts Inc
Price: FREE! (Limited time offer only)
Compatible devices: iPhone, iPod-touch, iPad with iOS 3.0 or later
Plomonet rating: 9/10

This game is for anyone who has any kind of interest in golf. It doesn’t matter if you just are interested for the sake of playing the game, or if you travel half the state to the best golf course around weekly, this game is for you. Even better, it’s free at the moment. You can play the game completely free, although there are many in-app purchases that could make the experience a lot better.

You can play a full course, just 3 holes, or even participate in a tournament. You have a in-game currency which you can obtain from just playing normally, which you have to pay in order to take part in tournaments. When you do, you have to pay a certain price and you would lose it if you don’t do too well.

They have a large range of clubs, and the system makes it very enjoyable to play. You can control the strength of the shot very easily, but getting it to go in the exact direction you aim is the difficulty. When it comes to putting, the screen shows a grid showing exactly how the green is like around the place. Also the great thing is that while it tells you the strength needed to get the ball to the hole, you still need to consider the speed of the green and the elevation in order to adjust to the right speed.

I was a complete newbie before I played this game, I’ve only played mini golf flash games in the past and I have managed to learn a lot from this game. It really is for anyone and it is free so I really recommend any of you to try it out.
